What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is the Japanese word for "Universal Life Energy." The Universal Life Energy is found in every living matter the earth, the trees, the air, the water, stones...everywhere. It is also known in other cultures as "Chi" in Chinese culture and "Prana" in Hindu culture. Reiki is a non-invasive method of hands-on healing whereby the Universal Life Energy is channeled through the Reiki Practitioner to the recipient. Essentially the practitioner serves as a "vehicle", if you will, for the energy to flow from the living matter through his or her hands and into the client. This energy is used to stimulate our body's own natural healing abilities. Because the energy is "intelligent" it flows to the area that needs it the most and by the means of least resistance. Think of it like water flowing through channels and becoming blocked by a dam. The "dam" in this case is the area that needs to be stimulated by the energy. It releases blockages of energies, cleanses the client's body of toxins, and attempts to establish a state of inner balance and harmony for a better overall sense of well being and health as well as relaxation.

Who Can Recieve Reiki?

Any person can receive and benefit from Reiki provided he or she is both open and willing to receive this energy. Reiki can be used on oneself, another person, animals, objects, locations, plants, etc.

What Can Reiki Be Used To Treat?

Reiki can be used to treat pretty much any condition with very minor side effects such as slight nausea, minor headache, light-headedness, increased mucus. The reason for the side effects is the body's natural means to adapting to ridding itself of the toxins that had built up and are now released. Sessions typically last anywhere from a half hour to an hour and a half depending on the extent of treatment needed. Treatments can be done in select areas of the body, however most individuals prefer a full-body treatment. Treatments are useful for clearing blocks that stem from emotional, spiritual, physical issues. It can help clear and release past life issues as well as present cords or attachments to unhealthy ideas and relationships. Reiki can be used to treat diseases, infections, injuries, allergies, and other such physical ailments. The energy is basically used to increase energy and speed up the healing process.
